**Check out my Earth Day Close Reading Packet too!
I've been using close reading strategies and packets in my classroom and have decide to blend close reading activities with Bloom's Taxonomy that provides deeper levels of thinking! I love the end result. St. Patrick's Day is near, so why not learn about why we celebrate this holiday! This Close Reading passage will bring insight to your students. Close reading passages should be at a higher level than the average text since students will be analyzing it for a week. Because of this, I use this with my 3rd & 4th grade high ability students. I believe it could be used in the regular 5th & 6th grade classroom as well depending on your student's level. My students are loving the close reads in our listening center. We have been working on them in guided reading groups and my students are doing an awesome job practicing their close reads in our listening centers.
