This product contains 8 task cards with St. Patrick's day themed prompts. Print 4 or 5 pages of the cards, turn them over face down, and have students randomly come up and pull a topic. I let them work with a partner because they product more creative, confident story lines.
These task cards are designed to focus on using imagery in writing. Each task card gives a prompt and also asks guiding questions to help focus in on imagery such as "what did you see?" "what did it look like?"
To increas the rigor, give students a color code of imagery such as blue underline=sight imagery, green underline=sound imagery etc. and have them underline their examples in their own writing!
Students LOVE doing these imagery writing assignments, especially if they can work with a partner. They always beg me to let them share their funny stories in front of the class. This promotes confidence in writing and encourages creativity to come out!
I allow one day to write and underline, and Day 2 to let students share their stories with the class.
*These cards look best when printed in color ink. Laminate the cards so they last for several years!! Cards are 4 to a page, 8 cards total.*
Also EXCELLENT for a March writing center, early finishers, or for sub plans!
