St. Patrick's Day and Earth Day Crossover Writing Activity and Bulletin Board
Creating cute bulletin boards is NOT one of my talents, and putting them up takes me forever! Needless to say, I loooove the idea of a bulletin board I can put up for March AND leave up for April.
This writing activity combines Earth Day and St. Patrick's Day themes. It includes two versions with two different topic sentences, so it works as an expository/informative or persuasive writing piece that meets Common Core writing standards.
Also, each topic comes in two options: wider (fewer) lines and smaller (more) lines, so it can easily be used with beginning or more proficient writers.
-"Going green" is as good as gold for two reasons. (wide lines)
-"Going green" is as good as gold for ___ reasons. (more, smaller lines)
-To keep our Earth green and clean, we should do two things. (wide lines)
-To keep our Earth green and clean, we should do ___ things (more, smaller lines)
Have your students cut out these leprechaun pots and color them (maybe even cutting out some gold circles to add to the top). Then, mount them on a blue and/or green bulletin board, and mix in your Earth Day and St. Patrick's Day die cuts or decorations to create an awesome holiday crossover display!
