This product features two separate activities that can be used during the month of March as centers, small groups, or as an independent lesson for 1-2 days.
The product focuses on fractions, specifically recognizing mixed numbers and improper fractions and comparing two fractions with like and unlike denominators.
VA SOL 3.3 The student will name and write fractions (including mixed numbers) represented by a model;
b) model fractions (including mixed numbers) and write the
fractions’ names; and
c) compare fractions having like and unlike denominators,
using words and symbols (>, <, or =).
Activity One: Students use the fraction cards #1-10 and a recording sheet (either a mixed number fraction recording sheet on an improper fraction cards recording sheet) and match up the cards the their correct fraction.
An answer key is provided that students can use for self-checking or the teacher may use for grading.
Activity Two: Students use the game board, game pieces, dice, fraction picture cards, and answer key to play with a partner or small group. Student directions are also provided for independent play.
