This simple board game can be used as a motivation and reinforcement tool in speech/language therapy or in literacy or numeracy centers. Two versions - color and blackline - are provided in this freebie.
• Use with flashcards or articulation/language cards - flip over a card and say the word or answer the question each time the dice is rolled.
• Write target words or equations in each space on the board - say the word or complete the equation you land on.
• Students write their spelling or articulation target words in the clovers and color the blackline version of the board before they play the game. (You may want to enlarge the print-out.)
The object of the game is to be the first to reach the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (and also to practice any target skill you choose to pair with the game!)
The game is best played with 2 to 4 players.
You will need a dice. Each player will need a game-piece.
The rules are simple:
Each player puts his game-piece on the ‘start’ four-leaf clover (top left of game board).
Players take turns to roll the dice and move the number of spaces indicated, following the four-leaf clover trail.
If you land on a red three-leaf clover, your luck has run out and you must go back 3 spaces.
If there is a rainbow adjoining the clover you land on, take a short cut!
The first player to the pot of gold is the winner.
Luck o’ the Irish to you!
