I love using short videos in the classroom to both build cultural knowledge and to strengthen listening skills in my middle school ESL/Reading/LA class.
The video, from the History.com Bet You Didn't Know series, is a 3- minute overview of the history of St. Patrick's Day and is suitable for students from grades 4-8.
The freebie worksheet contains 15 questions that come directly from the video text. They require listening and spelling skills, and provide a foundational knowledge on St. Patrick's Day history.
This activity is perfect for centers, early finishers, homework or to build technology or listening skills in students.
If you love cultural, historical and comprehension-based freebies for the middle school crowd, be sure to drop by my blog, www.MorrowInTheMiddle, for resources.
