St. Patrick's Day is a fun holiday that many people celebrate but it is also a day with lots of symbols and history. Students often ask "why do we wear green?" or "why is the shamrock so special?" This lesson answers those questions as well as celebrates the day.

This PRINT-ONLY resource comes with both the color version where students only need to read the short reads and answer the questions and the black and white version that allows students to spend some time coloring. Choose which one works best for your classroom and simply print. This is a prep-free, print-and-go resource.

Students do not simply learn the symbols but the history behind them. Yes, a shamrock is seen everywhere on St. Patrick's Day but why? Why are snakes important to the history of Ireland? Who exactly was St. Patrick? These and other important questions are answered on every page.
