St. Patrick's Day is coming on March 17th. Do your students know about this St. Patrick and why he has a special day to celebrate? This resource includes pre-knowledge questions, a story to read about St. Patrick and some of the Irish legends surrounding him, a vocabulary worksheet for use before reading the story, and an evaluation after doing the reading. Also....I've added for fun a mad lib and a recipe for kids to make Irish soda bread. Finally, I included a "play it forward" activity where teachers can reward students for good work and behavior and students can compliment their peers. With regards to that activity, a page of shamrocks is included so that teachers can print and copy more of them. Directions for that activity are clearly written as is a page of directions for the whole packet for teachers. This is similar to the resource I sold for the Olympics, but is a little longer. I put down the duration would be one hour, but it actually depends upon how many of the activities are done and whether they are finished at one class period or spread over several days time.
