****** This unit is part of a bundle St Patrick's Day Kindergarten Math Bundle
Younger children may require the statements and questions to be read aloud.
Some explanation that a pug is a breed of small dog may be required.
Answer sheets are provided.
If laminating or using dry erase pockets, the activities can be made self-correcting by printing answer sheets on the reverse side of each
Activity 1. Positional words. Children draw a line from each descriptive statement to the applicable pug. Positional words included are: around, in, under, above, across and on.
Activity 2 Find and Count. Children answer the 10 “how many” questions by observing physical attributes of the pugs and counting how many pugs share that particular attribute e.g. wearing a hat. They then write the number in the box. Questions 8-10 are slightly more complex and may require assistance.
Activity 3 Patterns. Children are required to complete 6 patterns by circling the pug that comes next, according to the pattern. Patterns
included are: AAB, ABCD, AB, ABCB, ABC and ABB. Children
could also record the type of pattern followed, as recorded on the answer sheet.
Activity 4. Number Recognition & Counting 1-6. Children count the button holes and dice dots, then draw lines to match the dice or button to the correct number pug.
Activity 5. Number Recognition & Counting 7-12. Children count the elements contained in each of 6 different graphics. e.g. shamrocks in a ten frame, segments of a circle. They then draw a line to the matching number pug.
