Every year we celebrate St. Patrick's Day in our classroom with a visit from the leprechauns! They leave green footprints, gold-covered chocolate coins and they always steal the grammar test!
They hide the questions to the test all over the school on green shamrocks - but, luckily, they leave a letter for the students and get the teachers to help fill in the directions to find the next question.
Our students LOVE this annual tradition - it makes grammar a lot more fun when you have to run around the school looking for the questions! And there's a reward for finishing in the "pot of gold" at the end of the activity.
There are 17 questions involving basic grammar - identifying parts of speech, punctuation and correcting sentence errors - all related to a St. Patrick's Day/Ireland theme. This is meant to be fun so it isn't too challenging.
Enjoy - and Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
