Developmentally appropriate Saint Patrick's Day literacy centers for the preschool, pre-k, and kindergarten classroom! This resource is perfect for all developmental and cognitive levels of early childhood. The centers are fun, engaging, and offer challenges and reinforcement of basic skills.
This resource is set up with 3 levels of developmentally appropriate Saint Patrick's Day Vocabulary centers for the early childhood classroom. Every class is different, every student is different, so this resource gives you the option of starting out slowly, building on what your students know, and offering a challenge as skills are mastered.
Level 1: Saint Patrick Vocabulary Matching
This beginning level will help students notice the similar ending sounds of words. As they say each word on the picture card, they will look at the cards to match and say each of those words too. Listening to themselves make the sounds and listening to teachers repeat the words will help them learn which sounds rhyme and which do not. It is a fantastic way to go slowly and really emphasize the ending sounds of words the kids hear and notice what is similar and what is different.
Level 2: Saint Patrick Bingo
This level builds on the first by adding the element of finding the vocabulary picture in a sea of other similar pictures. You can use this level to talk about everything you are learning about this fun holiday as you play!
Level 3: Saint Patrick Vocabulary Puzzles
This activity builds on the first two, but adds the element of putting the words in print to the pictures. Each puzzle has only one solution-therefore, the picture has to go with the correct vocabulary word. Some PreK kids may be ready to read simple CVC words such as ‘pot’, but even at this level…you can show directionality of print and point out letters and sounds that you know.
