If you are looking for some meaningful, no prep/low prep literacy ideas, then you may love these activities! The activities are quick and easy, yet they keep your students interested in learning during the month of March.

This 30 page St. Patrick’s Day Literacy Activity Packet for March includes:

Page 1: Title Page

Page 2: Synonyms or Antonyms? - Children will color the synonym pairs orange and the antonym pairs green.

Page 3: Lucky Letter Y- Children will read, cut, sort, and paste the words under the correct heading, depending on the sound of Y.

Page 4: Lucky Letter Y Template- The teacher will add his/her own Y words before reproducing this page for the students.

Page 5: Template for page 3- The teacher will add his/her own headings and words before reproducing this page for the students.

Page 6: Rhyming- Students will read and color the matching rhyming pairs the same color.

Page 7: Rhyming Template- The teacher will add his/her own rhyming words before reproducing this page for the students.

Page 8: Sort It Out! – The students will cut the words out at the bottom of the page and paste them into the CH, SH, or TH column.

Page 9: Sort It Out! Template – The teacher will program this paper by adding the headings and words before reproducing the page for the students.

Page 10: Go for the Gold! – The students will roll a die and write the words in the appropriate columns. The word that reaches the top first is the winner. This may be played independently or with a partner.

Page 11: Go for the Gold! Template – The students will write their spelling/vocabulary words at the bottom of each column. Then the students will roll a die and write the words in the appropriate columns. The word that reaches the top first is the winner. This may be played independently or with a partner.

Page 12: Match and Color- The students will color the matching word pairs the same color in the picture provided.

Page 13: Match and Color Template- The teacher will program this paper by adding pairs of words in the provided picture before reproducing this page for the students. The students will then color the matching word pairs the same color. OR... Each student may program his/her own paper and ask a friend to color it.

Page 14: Pick A Box Partner Game- St. Patrick’s Day Words- Students must roll a die, read a word from that column correctly, and color it. The student with the most boxes at the end of the game wins.

Pages 15 and 16: Color It, Count It, and Graph It! – Students will color each word using the code provided, count how many times each word was found, and graph the results. The students will then write which word appeared the most and which word appeared the least.

Pages 17 and 18: Color It, Count It, and Graph It! Template– Teachers program the pages before reproducing them for the students. Then the students will color each word using the code provided, count how many times each word was found, and graph the results. The students will then write which word appeared the most and which word appeared the least. OR... Each student may program his/her own paper and ask a friend to color it.

Page 19: Right Hand, Left Hand- Students will write 10 of their spelling/vocabulary words once with their right hand and once with their left hand.

Page 20: Write the Room- Students will look around the room and write one word for each of the letters in the words LEPRECHAUN, POT OF GOLD, and IRELAND.

Page 21: Word Building Activity- Students will cut out the letters that spell LEPRECHAUN, arrange the letters to make as many different words as they can with those letters, and write each word in the appropriate column.

Page 22: Find My Words- Students will highlight the St. Patrick’s Day words in the word find.

Page 23: Find My Words- Students write 10 spelling, vocabulary, or word wall words on the lines and then create a word find for a friend to complete.

Page 24: Scrambled Words- Students will unscramble 15 St. Patrick’s Day words and write them on the lines provide.

Page 25: Scrambled Word Answer Key

Page 26: ABC Order- Students will cut out the St. Patrick’s Day words at the bottom of the page, arrange, and paste them in alphabetical order.

Pages 27, 28, & 29: Build and Paste- Students will choose and write 10 of their spelling/vocabulary words on the lines provided. The students will then cut out the letters (found on pages 28 or 29) to build each word and paste them in the boxes provided.
