Have your students gathering and interpreting their own data with this complete resource. St Patrick's Day Reading and Math Related Activities with Comprehension, Writing, Surveying, and Graphing. Your students will learn about Irish Lore and practice collecting, displaying, and interpreting data by gathering and organizing survey results about people's beliefs in Leprechauns, Fairies, Luck, Sprites, and/or Four Leaf Clovers. Within this unit, I have provided lesson plans, short texts, and worksheets that will engage your students in reading, math, writing, comprehension, and communication. After reading about Irish beliefs, students answer DOK level 2-3 questions regarding the text, followed by leading a school wide survey in which they cooperatively ask their peers questions such as "Do you believe in leprechauns?" or "Do you believe in luck?" and/or those generated from their new learning about Irish Lore. The survey is followed by data organization and evaluation, a group graphing project, communication opportunities, a writing opinion prompt, and problem solving.
Common Core Standards for this lesson are included. Any correlation to CCSS are solely the opinion of Teachers' Keeper.
