For St. Patrick's Day, the first grade would always construct traps for leprechauns. The leprechauns would always escape. They would always leave the classroom in disarray. In second grade, the leprechauns would also upend some of the chairs and desk contents, but they would also leave a few chocolate coins and a special magical powder.
To do the project, you need cold milk and Pistachio Jello Instant Pudding, a wire disk, a bowl, small paper cups, and spoons.
When the students follow the directions, the magic powder turns green!
The powder is: Pistachio Jello Instant Pudding, which is white until they add milk, turns to green.
I put the pudding powder in a baggie and attach the instructions to the baggie. I leave several of these baggies around the room. The students love the activity....the pudding is fun to eat. Not all students like the pudding, but the activity is fun. ***Allergies to nuts/lactose intolerant awareness should be considered, as I know you are well aware.***
