A St. Patrick's Day activity for students learning to write equations in slope intercept form given two points. This activity is also ideal for a review for students who have already taken Algebra I or Algebra II. Students also utilize their inductive reasoning skills, as the pieces will only work out in one manner.
This file contains three different versions of the same puzzle. They all contain linear equation problems in the form of a 4 x 4 grid where students match up the two points to its corresponding equation in slope intercept form. The puzzles differ in how the shamrocks are depicted (not in the linear equations). The first version contains four shamrocks, which make it easier for the students to put the puzzle together. The second contains nine shamrocks, and the third sixteen shamrocks. In the third puzzle, the shamrocks are just found on the individual pieces, and therefore will not aid in the students putting together the puzzle. You can differentiate amongst ability groups with the three puzzles. Roman numerals are also included in the middle of the pieces so that a teacher can quickly check if the student is correct. Your purchase includes a PDF file of the puzzles. Although it isn't necessary for use, it is recommended you print the puzzle on cardstock and have it laminated prior to cutting it out so it can last for years to come.
