PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a zip file containing 56 Pages of 35 St. Patrick’s Day-themed activities. All of the activities are focused around basic music theory, such as note identification (treble and bass), note and rest durations, and symbol identification.

Most of these activities require NO PREP! Just print the file and give to your students :) Some activities require some prep, but not much. It's totally up to you which ones you use.

These activities are perfect for learning centers, early finishers and are also great for a substitute teacher!

DIRECTIONS FOR EACH ACTIVITY:

**MATH CONNECTIONS**

-COLOR MY POT O’ GOLD!- Determine the number of beats included in each Pot o’ Gold, then write the total number of beats in the Coin. After you have completed this, color your pots according to the key at the bottom of the page.

-COLOR THE IRISH FLAG!- Look at the notes and rests in the strips of each flag. Color the longest duration strip Green and the shortest duration strip Orange. After you have colored all of the flags, put a circle around the flag that correctly resembles the flag of Ireland. Ireland’s flag colors from left to right are green, white, orange.

-POT O’ GOLD NOTES AND RESTS (CREATING)-Create the note or rest written below the pot o’ gold on its heart!

-POT O’ GOLD NOTES AND RESTS (IDENTIFYING)- Identify the note on the shamrock in the space below the pot o’ gold.

-POT O’ GOLD ADDITION: Add together the notes and rests in the Pot o’ Gold, then write the beat durations in the coins. Write the total answer below the pot. 


-ADDING GOLD COINS- Add together the following beats in each pot, then fill in your answers.

-GET THE POT O’ GOLD!-Color and cut out the coins on the following page. Come up with ways to fill the pot o’ gold using the beat suggestions. Then
write down how many of each coin you used to achieve the amount of beats as suggested.

-ADDING COIN BEATS- Add together the number of beats in the pot of gold.

- CREATE A LUCKY RHYTHM!- Come up with ways to create the number of beats to the right of the St. Patrick Symbols using note and rest durations. All symbols must have a note or rest in it. Try not to duplicate a note or rest more than once in each rhythm.

-ST. PATRICK PARTY BEATS- Meet Ashley, Kevin, Jake and Brittany. They are going to the store to grab some items for their school’s St. Patrick’s Day party. Determine the cost of each item, then answer the “yes” or “no” questions.


**TREBLE AND BASS CLEF PRACTICE**

-A MUSICAL ST. PATRICK’S DAY POEM, FROM, “LEPRACHAUNS” BY THE BLOG “OF PRIMARY IMPORTANCE”- Identify the following pitches on the treble clef staff. After you have finished, fill in
the blanks on the next page with the names of the pitches you have identified. You will then be reading a St. Patrick’s Day poem created with musical pitches.

-BASS CLEF PITCH CREATION- Create the pitch on the staff that is shown in the shamrock.

-BASS CLEF PITCH IDENTIFICATION- Identify the pitch on the staff in the space in the Shamrock.

-BASS CLEF COIN PITCH CREATION- Draw a coin on the line or space of the pitch provided below the staff.

-BASS CLEF COIN PITCH IDENTIFICATION- A leprechaun has spilled his pot o’ gold, and the coins have landed all over the staff on many lines and spaces! In the space below each coin, identify the pitch name.

-BASS CLEF SHAMROCK PITCH IDENTIFICATION- Shamrocks have grown all over the staff on many lines and spaces! In the space below each shamrock, identify the pitch name. Make sure to only pay attention to the shamrock’s leaves, not its stem!

-TREBLE CLEF SHAMROCK PITCH IDENTIFICATION- Shamrocks have grown all over the staff on many lines and spaces! In the space below each shamrock, identify the pitch name. Make sure to only pay attention to the shamrock’s leaves, not its stem!

-TREBLE CLEF COIN PITCH CREATION- Draw a coin on the line or space of the pitch provided below the staff.

-TREBLE CLEF COIN PITCH IDENTIFICATION- A leprechaun has spilled his pot o’ gold, and the coins have landed all over the staff on many lines and spaces! In the space below each coin, identify the pitch name.

-TREBLE CLEF PITCH CREATION- Create the pitch on the staff that is shown in the shamrock.

-HIGH OR LOW? COLORING HIGH PITCHES- The two pitches on the staff in the pot are named in the clouds to the side. Color the cloud with the higher pitch. Be careful! The clouds do not always reflect the names of the pitches in order!

-LINE OR SPACE? COLOR THE POTS OF GOLD- Determine if the note on each staff is on a line or a space. Color the pot of gold using the color key.



**COMPOSITION ACTIVITIES**

-ST. PATRICK’S DAY COMPOSITION ACTIVITY #1: Compose your own song using the rhythm shown. Use the pitches B, A, and G to fill in the rhythm. Copy the rests in place.

-ST. PATRICK’S DAY COMPOSITION ACTIVITY #2: Compose your own song using the rhythm shown. Use the pitches C, B, A, and G to fill in the rhythm. Copy the rests in place.

-ST. PATRICK’S DAY COMPOSITION ACTIVITY #3: Compose your own song using the rhythm shown. Use the pitches shown next to the checklist to fill in the rhythm. You do not need to use the pitches in any particular order, and every pitch may not be used. Copy the rests in place. (Pitches used are all treble lines and spaces on the staff.)



**MATCHING ACTIVITIES**

-BASS CLEF PITCH MATCHING: Draw a line from the letters on the left to the shamrock on the right that shows the same pitch.

-TREBLE CLEF PITCH MATCHING: Draw a line from the letters on the left to the shamrock on the right that shows the same pitch.

-SHAMROCK DYNAMIC MATCHING: Draw a line from the dynamic word on the left to its shamrock symbol on the right.

-ST. PATRICK’S SWEET MATCHING: Draw a line from the note or rest on the left to its sweet treat symbol on the right.

-MATCH THE DYNAMICS BY COLOR: One coin on each side will match another coin on the other side. Find the matching hearts and color them the same color.

-MATCH THE DURATIONS BY COLOR: One shamrock on each side will match another shamrock on the other side. Find the matching hearts and color them the same color.
