Looking for ways to practice rhythm around St. Patrick's Day? This fun set allows students in grades 1-5 to practice rhythmic dictation by having them listen to a pattern and figure out which card matches. Students can work individually in learning centers or in partners or small groups, and the activity can even be used for assessment; directions on where to find mailboxes for the activity are included. The set includes:
*Eight pattern cards for each of the following rhythms:
--Ta and ti-ti (quarter notes and eighth notes)
--Tika-tika (Sixteenth notes)
--Ti-tika (Eighth/ 2 sixteenth)
--Tika-ti (2 sixteenth/ eighth)
--Syncopa (ti-ta-ti, or eighth/quarter/eighth)
--Tim-ka (dotted eighth/sixteenth)
--Tam-ti (dotted quarter/eighth)
--6/8 rhythms (including 3 eighths, dotted quarter, dotted quarter rest, and quarter/eighth.)
*Eight patterns for preparation of each of these concepts:
--Tika-tika (Sixteenth notes), using four dots, or ....
--Half note, using a long line, or ____
--Ti-tika (Eighth/ 2 sixteenth), using one long line and two dots, or __..
--Tika-ti (2 sixteenth/ eighth), using two dots and one long line, or ..__
--Syncopa (ti-ta-ti, or eighth/quarter/eighth), using one dot, one long line, and one dot, or .___.
