PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Happy St. Patrick's Day: Passage and Questions - This pack includes a reading passage about St. Patrick's Day..... the history, the symbols, etc. It talks about who St. Patrick was, how the Irish traditions came to the United States, and focuses on symbols, such as the leprechaun, green, and gold.

Please click on the preview above to get a better idea of what is included.

NOTE: This is not a passage about religion, but since it is non-fiction and talking about the history of St. Patrick, it does mention that he was a Patron Saint, and that folklore says that clover (with 3 leaves) was used to tell the story of God in 3 persons. It says it is Irish folklore, so the passage does NOT push any religion :-)

=======================

IMPORTANT---- I offer the SAME passage in two different formats. This particular product is a one page passage with about 11 text-based questions that go along with the passage.

The other format is for interactive notebooks. It is a similar passage and similar questions just formatted differently. If you would like to view the interactive notebook version, click HERE. You can then read the description to see which format works best for you.

=================================

This passage was written with 4th graders in mind, but it can be used with more advanced third graders or weaker fifth grade readers. Please use your best judgement.

What's included?

This pack includes a one page reading passage that should help students better understand some fun facts dealing with St. Patrick's Day.

In addition to the passage, there are about 11 questions. One is on the definition of mischievous (in folktales, leprechauns were said to be this), one focuses on how the student might choose to trap a leprechaun (imaginary, of course), and the others focuses on comprehension questions related to the text

An answer key is also provided.

PLEASE.... if you have any questions about the questions asked, what the passage includes, or anything else, just send me a message before you buy. :-) I will be glad to try and answer those.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition to doing this activity as a whole group reading lesson, you could also have students do it during a literacy center. Feel free to use it in your classroom however you would like.
**PLEASE... if you see any typos, send me a message before you rate the product. I can usually have corrections made very quickly. Thank you ahead of time.
