Over the years I have loved watching my students pour over the new books I get out for each unit. I have been excited to use this paper with them to document the things they are reading throughout the unit. This is a great way to give your students a purpose for reading. It will provide them a good place to record the information that they have learned. This works really well with the book "St. Patrick's Day" by Gail Gibbons, although parts of the information can be gathered from any non-fiction book about St. Patrick's Day. Included is a guided writing using the information they collected. I've also included some St. Patrick's Day lined writing pages for kids who don't need the guided writing, or for a follow up to the guided writing. This would also work really well with early finishers.
