St. Patrick's Day:
Passage and Activity for INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOKS
This pack includes a short close reading passage about St. Patrick's Day..... the history, the symbols, etc. It talks about who St. Patrick was, how the Irish traditions came to the United States, and focuses on symbols, such as the leprechaun, green, and gold.
NOTE: Get this passage in a bundled pack at a huge savings by clicking HERE
The passage is a half sheet, so it will work perfectly to glue sideways into an interactive reading notebook. Once glued into the interactive notebook, students can write their thinking out to the side of the passage.
---- I offer this SAME passage in two different formats. This particular passage is formatted for interactive notebooks. It is the exact same passage and similar questions just formatted differently from the full page version.
If you would like to purchase the one page passage with about 11 text-based questions that go along with the passage, click HERE
. You can then read the description to see which format works best for you.
In addition to the passage, there are three flippable activities (all printed on one sheet) for their notebook. One is on the definition of mischievous (in folktales, leprechauns were said to be this), one focuses on how the student might choose to trap a leprechaun (imaginary, of course), and the other focuses on 4 comprehension questions related to the text
In addition to doing this activity as a whole group reading lesson, you could also have students do it during a literacy center. Feel free to use it in your classroom however you would like.
Good luck on your end of the year testing! I'm sure your kids will do great.
