Looking for some fun activities to do in the lab with your students this St. Patrick’s Day? You found them! This package includes four different activities that include the lesson plans which have the scientific explanations for the experiments, student handouts and presentation slides.
Here are the included activities…
Finding the Rainbow:
In this exploration, students will explore the world of colour and light! They will be using chromatography (a technique used to separate out components of a mixture or substance) to separate the pigments in flower petals.
In this activity, students will be exploring crystal formation using a common household chemical (Borax) to create beautiful crystalized shamrocks!
In this exploration, students will be discovering non-Newtonian fluids! Students will be making a non-Newtonian fluid commonly known as “Ooblek” which they will compare to Newtonian fluids.
Turning Copper into Gold!
In this laboratory experiment, students will be performing a little bit of Leprechaun alchemy! Using some common chemicals, students will make a copper penny turn to silver and then gold!
