2. Sounds O' Plenty! - A Sounds Per Beat Game/Activity (Kodaly Based)
In this fun, engaging St. Patrick's Day themed SMART NOTEBOOK lesson, elementary music students in Kindergarten and 1st grade will begin the process of aurally identifying how many sounds/syllables are found within word(s) and phrases that pertain to this fun holiday. Students will sort pictures into various categories based upon how many sounds/syllables these word(s) and phrases contain. The pictures/icons used in this lesson are enhanced with the infinite cloning feature. Identifying patterns in word(s) and phrases is the very basic, beginning steps in the Kodaly method for preparing duration of sound, rhythm of the words, sounds per beat, etc. Colorful graphics enhance the quality of this St. Patrick's Day themed Kodaly based lesson. 4. Leprechaun, Leprechaun (Preparing/Practicing New Tone/Note "Re") - Kodaly Based
This fun, colorful, and engaging St. Patrick's Day themed SMART NOTEBOOK lesson is appropriate for elementary music students in grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Based upon the familiar/traditional nursery rhyme tune "Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear," students will be expected to keep a steady beat, tap/clap the rhythm to the song while following a rhythm notation chart, rhythmically notate the song using infinitely cloned rhythm icons, melodically read and sing the song with a fun notation chart using shamrocks as note heads as well as a notation chart with regular notes in notation format, and identify/label new Solfege Tone "Re."
