Your students will solve math problems and learn a bit about Ireland and St. Patrick’s day. This resource includes sixteen word problems, an answer document and a key. The cards have problems that include word problems about St. Patrick, corned beef and cabbage, shamrocks, the Great Potato famine and much more. Most of the problems are centered around the number sense common core standard. Others focus on d = rt, simple interest, probability, unit rate and measurement. These problems could be used as warm-ups in March or as stations on St. Patrick’s day.
There are two color by answer worksheets that focus on multi-step equations (six questions) and simplifying expressions (five questions). Students solve the problems and will color the leprechaun a color based upon the correct solution. The simplifying expressions worksheet also includes five trivia questions related to Ireland and St. Patrick’s day.
Students can also practice their order of operations skills by substituting the correct symbol (addition, subtraction, multiplication or division) between five clovers that are equal to 7.
