St. Patrick’s Day: The Blarney Castle and The Legend of the Blarney Stone includes a 12 slide PowerPoint presentation about the Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone.
It also includes 4 PRINTABLES and ANSWER KEYS. First, students will read the Legend of the Blarney Stone. This legend explains how the Blarney Stone came to possess its magical powers. After students have read the legend, they are asked to write a legend of their own about a special castle for St. Patrick’s Day. They are prompted by several questions to help them write the legend. In Exercise A students will unscramble words from the story. Finally, in Exercise B students are given two sentences and they need to combine the two sentences to make only one sentence. To do this they will need to take the adjective in the first sentence and fit it into the second sentence correctly. For example: Combine the following two sentences. “This story is old. This story is a legend.” The students should write “This old story is a legend.” I hope you and your students have fun learning a wee little bit about Irish culture and traditions as you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!
