This product features two separate activities that can be used during the month of March as centers, small groups, or as an independent lesson for 1-2 days.
This purchase focuses on time – specifically, telling time to the nearest five minutes and solving elapsed time word problems.
3.11 The student will
a) tell time to the nearest minute, using analog and digital clocks; and
b) determine elapsed time in one-hour increments over a 12-hour period.
3.12 The student will identify equivalent periods of time, including relationships among days, months, and years, as well as minutes and hours.
Activity One: Students use the time cards to play a game that is similar to Uno. In the game, students work to match time cards from their hand to the time card in the center either by the hour or by the minute. There are some “magic” jackpot cards that allow students to change the time card to a card of their choice.
Activity Two: Students use the game board, game pieces, dice, elapsed time problem cards, and answer key to play with a partner or small group. Student directions are also provided for independent play.
