Are you looking for some ways to spruce up your March literacy and/or math centers? Check this packet out – geared towards Kindergarten but would certainly work for excelling preK’rs, underperforming 1st graders, or special education students who could benefit from extra practice.
• Picture cards with labels (leprechaun, pot o’gold, lucky clover, lucky horseshoe, shamrock, rainbow, gold, and hat) ---- perfect for creating anchor charts, as accents to bulletin board displays, or for monthly themed word walls.
• Primary lined journal paper titled “St. Patrick’s Day Story” ---- this paper has clip art and words for the following: leprechaun, pot o’gold, rainbow, lucky 4-leaf clover, and shamrock.
• Primary lined journal paper with writing prompt ---- What would you do if you found a pot o’gold at the end of the rainbow?
• One sheet of primary lines to copy on the back of the above journal pages creating more space for your students to write.
• 4-Leaf Clover Picture Cards for the following initial consonant letter sounds: B, C, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, Q, R, S, T, V, W, Y, and Z. Each clover has 4 pictures, three of which match the letter printed in the center of the clover…can your students spot the UNLUCKY picture that begins with a different sound?
• Two initial sound practice worksheets. Each has 4 problems. Students will color the pictures that match the letter sound the leprechauns are holding. (Tip: these can be laminated OR placed into plastic sheet/page protectors and used at a literacy center, for early finishers, or with a group of students struggling with first sound fluency during your RTI block!).
• Tens frames flash cards for the numbers 11-30.
• Numeral flash cards for the numbers 11-30.
• 9 Number Sense Practice Worksheets ----two worksheets with 4 problems on each one, students will color base ten units to show the number the leprechaun is holding. They will then draw counters on tens frames to show the number. Last they will write the number in expanded form (10+_). ----two worksheets with 4 problems on each one, students will color to show ONE MORE and write the new number. ----two worksheets with 4 problems on each one, students will color to show ONE LESS and write the new number. ----two worksheets with 4 problems on each one, students will color base ten units to show the number and then color another set of base ten units to show TEN MORE. They will then write the new number. ----one fill in the missing numbers 11-20 worksheet. On the top students will write the missing even numbers, on the bottom they will write the missing odd numbers.
• 3 Solid Objects/Shapes worksheets-----one shows the word and students will color the real objects that match (a party hat for a cone, for instance)----one solids graph-----one solids chart (number of sides, corners, faces, and does it slide or roll?).
