St Patricks Day themed alphabet and numbers cursive handwriting resource: Grades 1 to 6.
This resource combines teaching children how to form cursive letters accurately with St Patricks Day.
As a teacher you will get a 3 page 'done for you' resource which you can print out and instantly give to the children. It has the alphabet in upper case and lower case. It also has numbers 0 to 9. The children are required to trace over the top of the letters or numbers.
What makes this different? It uses an award winning cursive writing font teaching children where to start, which direction to write and where to stop. This is particularly useful for children with dyslexia, dyspraxia and for those who are slow writers. With every letter they are shown how to break it down into steps and all they need to do is follow the numbers 1,2,3 to write it with accuracy.
St Patricks Day is one of those national day celebrations that the whole world celebrates and here is an easy way for you to do this too. To keep the children engaged when completing these letters there is a mini quiz. For every sheet, any letter of the alphabet in a dark circle reveals a letter from a St Patrick's Day themed word. Once they have written their letters they are encouraged to guess this word and write it on the lines provided. They are also encouraged to write the number that the Leprechaun is pointing to.
It helps children in Reception, Years 1 to 6, meeting the UK curriculum needs of Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2. There are no age limitations to this resource.
As a children's occupational therapist I am often asked to help children who struggle to learn to write. I use these sheets for letter writing practice and/or as an assessment of how far a child has developed their handwriting skills. It captures their interest and because of that it works!
I hope you enjoy using them as much as I do. Don't forget to follow me/my store as I am always coming up with creative ways to engage children in handwriting activities.
