These staff print outs can be really helpful in the elementary music classroom. I will give students cut outs of note or book characters to place on their papers during activities or games. They can write a simple, short melody by just placing paper note cut outs on their paper. They can also be laminated, then written on with dry erase markers, also. There are MANY possibilities. It can help with rhythmic AND melodic notation.
I have a book series written by Sharon Burch about "Freddie the Frog". In two of her books, the characters live on "Treble Clef Island." You can use these staff print outs as your map of the island and have the students move a paper whole note to the correct line or space as the characters in the book go there. It helps keep them engaged and focused on the staff. I highly recommend these books. Search the internet for "Freddie the Frog Sharon Burch" to find and purchase these books.
