This Maths data program is ideal for children in grades 4-7. The program begins with a whole class introduction and then moves onto whole class guided activities before they spilt up into differentiated mathematics groups. The program consists of three differentiated levels gradually increasing the complexity of the work. The red level is working towards stage 3 outcomes. The yellow levels is working at stage 3 outcomes while the green level is moving towards stage 3 outcomes. Students will learn about:
Below: Interpreting graphs
•using the term ‘mean’ for average.
•finding the mean for a small set of data.
Extension: Mode, range, medium & correlation.
Picture Graphs and Column Graphs
•determining a suitable scale for data and recording the scale in a key eg ♥= 10 people
•drawing picture or column graphs using a key or scale
•interpreting a given picture or column graph using the key or scale
•naming and labelling the horizontal and vertical axes
•drawing a line graph to represent any data that demonstrates a continuous change
eg hourly temperature
•determining a suitable scale for the data and recording the scale on the vertical axis
•using the scale to determine the placement of each point when drawing a line graph
•interpreting a given line graph using the scales on the axes
Divided Bar Graphs and Sector (Pie) Graphs
•naming a divided bar graph or sector (pie) graph
•naming the category represented by each section
•interpreting divided bar graphs
*interpreting sector (pie) graphs.
Students finish the program with a whole class consolidation.
Pls note: All resources are included as well as a Pre Test for Data (or could be used as a post test)
