These handouts accompany the slideshow on Stage Orientation for the Actor and guide students through the entire unit of instruction on how actors should move on stage. The lessons cover all the information students will need to speak the "lingo" of the theatre and understand the theories behind stage movement. Topics include: areas of the stage, body positions, levels, planes, and aspects of blocking. Assessments are provided at the start and end of the unit in the form of "Curtain Up" and "Curtain Call" questions. A fill in the blank format for notes as well as the graphics and images will ensure that students are engaged during instructional time. The handouts are designed to work hand in hand with the material in the slideshow. Teachers have plenty of flexibility in terms of pacing and presentation style. The unit culminates in an "Encore Activity", which gives students a chance to use their new knowledge to create drama in the classroom!
