The purpose of this lesson is for students to review what they know about the Holocaust and to analyze primary sources (pictures, a map, a chart) related to the stages of the Holocaust.
Students can work in collaborative groups or individually to complete the two-page graphic organizer. The first column contains review questions which students can answer using their textbooks, class notes, the internet, or other classroom resources. Here are two sample questions:
What was the primary goal of the Nuremberg Laws?
What were some of the restrictions the Nuremberg Laws placed on Jews in Germany?
The second column of the graphic organizer contains analysis questions related to the primary sources in the PowerPoint (and printed on the graphic organizer itself). For example, students are asked to analyze a Nuremberg race chart and to answer the following question:
Examine the chart titled "Nuremberg Laws," then read the translated excerpt of the laws on the back. What do you think the circles on the Nuremberg laws chart represent? How do you know this?
