This activity, which can pair with any of Shakespeare's plays, but is designed to pair with Macbeth, allows students to think like a director when approaching Shakespeare's work.
Students will have to think creatively about set design, lighting, costumes, blocking, and acting for a scene in the play. This project can be done once in a Shakespeare unit, with a scene of the students' choosing, or can be done as a unit project with students choosing several scenes per act throughout your reading.
Students will complete a write up that addresses each of the seven elements of staging a Shakespearean production that are listed on these instructions. Their finished product can be a formal write up or a visual representation & stage notes.
