Teach your students about Africa through the fascinating world of POSTAGE STAMPS. This ebook will take your students into Egypt, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, Zimbabwe, and all across Africa. Your students will discover that some African stamps are triangular and that stamps tell us about the people and animals that live there. Discuss African cultures and customs on these stamps: African dances, women balancing stuff on their head, men wearing turbans, diamonds, pyramids, masks, giraffes, gorillas, camels, hippos, alligators, and so much more. Learning can be fun with this fascinating ebook on African stamps. Take a look at the Preview to see samples.
Use this ebook to engage students in ANALYZING, WONDERING and DISCUSSING. Try to identify as many things as you can on each stamp. Do you see any plants, or mountains, or the sun, or clouds? Do you see any birds, or mammals, or reptiles, or insects, or fish? What types of clothing are people wearing, or jewelry, or weapons? What activities are people engaged in? Do you se any circles or squares, triangles or rectangles? How many different colors can you find? Is the person or animal facing you or do you see its profile (from the side)? What is in the center of the stamp and what is off in the distance? Use these stamps to promote thinking and wondering and talking in your classroom. Help your students to ask, “Why are these things on this stamp?”
