The purpose of the jam sheet is to learn notes or chords on an instrument and play them in the context of a song; generally, the chart is in the original key of the song or I download and transpose the song to a more usable key. My intention when using these sheets are to set up the instruments and prepare the students and then play along to the track.
This Jam Sheet is for Stand By Me in the style of Ben E. King
This chord sheet is in the ORIGINAL KEY of the song. I do not own this song and do not raise the price of the sheet for the song; I do not profit from this song and intend no copyright infringement. The lyrics are posted and color-coded to match the chords above them.
This can be broken down in many ways, depending on what instruments the students are playing and the level they're at.
This could be ukuleles or guitars, playing the one chord they know and resting for the rest (keeping time and coming right is actually challenging!); this could be ukes or guitars resting for the duration of the chords they don't know and playing all the ones they do. (which helps you know who's following and who's lost). Then you could do it again and either pick a new chord to play or add a chord to the one(s) they're already playing.
This could be handbells or boomwhackers playing just the tonic note (so you can tell them to ignore the m's but not ignore the sharps!).
OR you can use this as part of a chord-building unit. Then students can pick whatever handbell or boomwhacker they want, find out which chords they can play during, and then go to town!
Note: Colors do NOT always match with boomwhackers, so make sure students choose their instrument by NOTE NAME, not color!
