Powerful You is a comprehensive life-guide for families, educators, therapists, or anyone working with youth (ages 7-11). Anna is the first letter of the alphabet, the letter A and tells a heartfelt story from a child who has struggled with family changes. Lessons in Powerful You follow the ASCA National Standards, which were developed by The American School Counselor Association. Stella’s story: A true story about standing up for others and yourself.
Powerful Self-Talk: A positive affirmation about change, “I stand up for others and myself..” Children will call upon each memorized “Positive Self Talk” during challenging times that arrive in life.
Reflect and Shine Time: Encourages children to interact and share personal experiences. This non-judgmental talking time allows participants to connect, release, and reflect or if in a group - learn from each other. It can also be used as a quiet activity where children can journal their thoughts.
Activities: A full page of activities are on the second page, including a list of reasons why kids bully, a poem about hurtful words, and a powerful bullying quote. Ten different coping strategies are given for handling bullying behavior.
These stories and activities will empower children to create the life they want, regardless of what has happened to them.
