Show students how to derive the formula x= -b/2a, and why it's the x-value of the vertex with this mix n' match game!
Students rearrange the steps and descriptions in their groups to rewrite standard form to vertex form by completing the square.
NOTE: ***Students must already know how to complete the square for quadratics when a is NOT 1***
It would also help to have already gone over translations of the quadratic parent function, in order to help see why x= -b/2a instead of positive.
This leads VERY NICELY into deriving the quadratic formula, another one of my sets :)
