It’s tough to narrow down AP level complex rubrics into one reporting standard. To give students more specific feedback, consider using one overarching standard and also several sub standards (Thesis, context, evidence, and analysis) to inform students where their strengths and weaknesses are in their essays. This is a way to bridge the College Board Rubric with standards in schools.
This is an example for the LEQ in APUSH but following this format you can make modifications for any essay rubric that you wish to use. Remember, Standards Based Grading and Learning is not about the rubrics, but rather it is about the FEEDBACK that teachers provide to their students. Sub-Standards are an excellent way to do this.
