*A 2016-2017 version has been uploaded as of 8/13/2016.*
This new version now includes a 'median' column as well as a 'mean' column, and it allows for the input of up to 35 students.
This Interactive (Standards- Based) Grade Book takes the stress out of standards-based grading and reporting. The grade book is meant to be used in Microsoft Excel as Excel will fully enable all of the automatic features of the grade book. However, each page has also been formatted to print comfortably on 8” by 11” paper.
The interactive grade book allows you to quickly and easily input the “domain” or “strand” labels that you need to split your grade book into. The second page of the grade book is a personalization page where you will input the names of your students, the subject of the grade book, the quarter, the domain/strand names, the standard codes, and any comments you would like to be able to select from. After you input your information on the personalization page, the same information will auto-populate wherever else it is needed in the grade book! There are also individual tabs for each domain or strand for that subject.
The grade book can easily be personalized to fit the five Common Core domains for Mathematics, or the 5-6 Common Core English/Language Arts strands. Once you have completed the personalization page, you will be able to select the standard code from a drop-down list to quickly group graded assignments by individual standards/indicators on each domain page.
Key Features of the Interactive Grade Book:
-Ability to purchase the grade book once and save a different copy for each subject/quarter you teach!
-A simple, attractive design that prints well on 8” by 11” paper in color or black-and-white (if desired).
-Easy to follow step-by-step instructions for set-up and personalization (so that you can truly make the grade book your own!)
-Tabs that will auto-average student grades by domain.
-Individual tabs for each domain to input student grades and standards taught that quarter.
-Two types of graphs to use during parent-teacher conferences:
1) A bar graph displaying a student’s performance by assignment across a particular domain (just select the student’s name from the drop down menu on that page and the grade book will create the graph for you!)
2) A bar graph displaying a student’s performance across all of the domains for that quarter
Automaticity throughout the grade book:
-If you input student names, the grade book subject and quarter, domain titles, standard codes, and personal comment choices once, the same information will auto-populate on the other tabs (sometimes into drop-down selection lists, sometimes into a specific location on the sheet itself).
-There is no need to calculate student averages because averages will auto-calculate and auto- color code for simple assessment. (The only exception to the color-coding is in the Rubric-Based version on a MAC… the specific conditional formatting rules for the average columns might not function properly on earlier versions of Excel.)
Getting Started in Six Easy Steps!
1) Save a copy of the grade book for each subject that you teach.
2) Input the names of your students on the “Personalization” tab.
