This is a 25 question multiple-choice test that requires students to read, identify poetic devices in, and analyze three very different poems. Key terms tested are sound devices (alliteration, onomatopoeia, rhyme scheme, internal rhyme, end rhyme, slant rhyme), Figurative language (simile, metaphor, imagery, symbolism), and basic poetry terms (stanza, speaker, audience).
More than 60% of the questions are written on Webb's Depth of Knowledge two or three, and DOK levels are indicated on the answer key.
The test is standards-based and the CCS is indicated on the test.
