The images displayed shows actual student work. One from an average student, the next from a high functioning autistic student. My students always enjoy this activity and take pride in their work. They need to have books or internet access to look up images to sketch.

This Star Life Cycle Worksheet has 2 overlapping ovals to show that all stars originate from a stellar nebula and protostar. The ovals split apart to low mass and high mass main sequence stars. The low mass star oval is larger to represent that low mass stars have a longer life span. I discuss the oval differences as a follow-up discussion question.

Most other worksheets on this topic are linear in design and that does not do a good job at reinforcing the cyclical nature of this process.

A word bank is included for the students. Student put the terms of the star life cycle in the correct locations and sketch each stage.

I created this worksheet to use with lower 9th grade students. I provide colored pencils for making the sketches. As needed, I am prepared to provide a clue like "the answer to 3a. is Low Mass Main Sequence Star," in order for students to fill in the blanks.

All the elements have been "grouped" together. I hope this will help the worksheet download correctly to you. Then you can easily adjust the size to fit your margins. To edit individual elements you may need to "ungroup" before making changes.
