The traditional folk song has been extended with an original B section making it a perfect piece for a musical experience or performance. Use the traditional A section to work on playing EGA on the recorder. The B section was written so my students could learn to play high C and high D on the recorder and be immediately successful. Perfect piece to use while addressing the Orff and Kodaly curriculum.
The set of Lesson Plans and PowerPoint interactive slides include:
• 7 lessons each 5-12 minutes (6 pdf pages) plus an Orff Orchestration. The lesson plans include detailed instructions for teaching the song, recorder, rhythm, melody, creativity, form and Orff Orchestration.
• 33 slides created with PowerPoint 2010 (with 19 slides being teacher and/or student interactive) may be used to reinforce recorder playing and aurally identifying melodic patterns. You will have everything you need to teach all the lessons. The PowerPoint works very well with Smartboards - just touch the board to activate the sound effects and the animations.
It is a perfect piece to address curricular concepts while enjoying making music. It is also a great spiraling activity. Teach “Star Light Star Bright” to your first year recorder players and bring it back the following year adding the B section. Or just use the lesson and ear training slides to teach the song “Star Light Star Bright” and Sol Mi La.
