What educators are saying
Great way to keep the kids engaged during my Star-Spangled Banner unit. Can be both teacher or student lead, and even done by a sub. Thanks!
I used this with my 5th grade students. It was a very useful resource while studying the Star Spangled Banner.
Description
It's time to teach your U.S. students about the Star Spangled Banner! I made this flip book to use in my own classroom of third graders to teach them about our U.S. flag and the importance of our U.S. National Anthem.
There are so many times during the year when this could be used: Flag Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (4th of July), Veteran's Day...
This flip book will allow your 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students to:
-memorize the National Anthem,
-learn the tricky vocabulary,
-rewrite it in their own words,
-read the story behind it,
-answer comprehension questions, and
-draw the original Star Spangled Banner.
When I teach about the National Anthem, I like to show my students videos of different people singing their own renditions of the song. The kids LOVE it, and it really helps in the memorization process. I have several videos on my Pinterest board entitled Teaching About the USA. You can access them HERE. They will play directly from Pinterest, as long as your school has not blocked Youtube. (I'm also hoping to do some of the patriotic crafts that I have pinned there someday!)
Happy Teaching,
