A colorful diagram that shows students that stars can be of different colors! This integrated art project plots the three-way relationship between a star’s color and its brightness and temperature. More advanced students can learn how most of the stars in the universe are main sequence stars and relate this to their diameter and mass as the HR diagram shows. The diagram is not that hard to create even for artistically-challenged children and is one that students enjoy completing. The grading rubric for the assignment is provided.
Students who finish early can work on the included matching star worksheet. This could also be used as an formal assessment.
