Product Description
This IS NOT a stand alone activity. It has to be used with the student made STAR CHART FOR THE NORTHERN SKY (activity available for purchase by Michel F. Ryan). In the activity students learn about Hipparchus, an ancient Greek astronomer who decided to rank star brightness by a numbering system from 1 to 6 - a system still used today. Students are then asked to look at star dots on the STAR CHART to learn how the size of dots on a star chart are used to represent stars of different magnitude (brightness).
