Stars in the North - USING POINTER STARS TO FIND POLARIS AND NORTH
Product Description
This activity is used in conjunction with the student made STAR CHART FOR THE NORTHERN SKY, another activity available for purchase from Michael F. Ryan. Students are asked to set the star chart to a specific date and time in March. They then learn to see how the two stars at the end of the cup of Ursa Major (Big Dipper) can be used to find the position of Polaris, the North Star. Students are asked to spin the star wheel to see if this trick can be used for other months of the year.
