This activity is used with the STAR CHART FOR THE NORTHERN SKY, another offering for purchase by Michael F. Ryan. This activity involves students in the class receiving a diagram of all the stars located in the constellation Ursa Major. Students are asked to compare this new drawing with the same star group on the star wheel. Students are then divided up into cooperative learning groups. Their assignment is to image they are the first people to imaging some person, creature or thing the this star grouping represents, draw an outline of their creation and develop a myth surrounding their choice. Representative of the group then presents their creation to the entire class.
