This is a download for you to print and assemble valuable tools that you can use over and over again, similar to a file folder game in book format. This STARTER SET is designed for young children with disabilities that are just starting to match pictures. Each page is very simple and clean with one picture to match. The 3 word sentence has pictures “I see ___”. The child can be taught (starting with hand over hand) to point to each word long before he/she may be able to talk. This sets a great foundation for making sentences using pictures to make requests.
These books review basic and familiar concepts of colors, shapes, toys, clothes, food and things that go. A selection board is placed in the back of the book and can be removed (with Velcro type fasteners). The board holds the images of the words needed to complete the sentence. The child chooses the correct image that matches the correct location and pulls it off the selection board and places it on the page in the book.
The Little Interactive Books can be used to teach and reinforce a new concept, to teach a child to combine words to make a meaningful sentence, and to teach pre-literacy skills such as turning pages, reading from left to right and reading one word at a time. These books work great for 2 and 3 year old children that are developing typically. They are also perfect for children with delays, a speech or language impairment or autism to sequence 2 or 3 words together. The books are very motivating and the children will love the interaction as they read the story.
These Little Interactive Books, when finished are 5 ½” X 8 ½”. These books can be used with one child or a small group. This is a perfect size for little people to hold, turn pages and “read”.
This packet comes with books in full color and also in black and white to be colored in by the teacher or used as a take home book.
