Here's a fun, interesting activity that can be completed individually with the help of the Internet. Assign groups into United States regions and you can easily make a wall mural from this assignment by drawing the states first, before handing them out, to ensure they fit appropriately afterwards on a bulletin board.
Once students pick their states they are given a standard poster board with a detailed list as to where to place state information. Groups were best at 2-3 members.
Websites are offered for students to click on and gain information. If you have no Internet access, you can easily run off the information for each group in your classroom. I've tried to keep the lists concise as I've used this once in a computer lab, and once in a classroom with no Internet connections.
Students are asked to label:
***and more. - There are a total of 12 steps.
Posters are beautifully colored and look amazing. Best of all, this can be done independently. Kids love it as it is fun to do and contains items of interest.
