This activity was used as a culminating activity with my students after teaching about renewable and nonrenewable resources, minerals and mining. I used it to apply the concepts to local information so students could more easily visualize the information's impact on their life.
It can easily be adapted for any state just by changing the resources names and the state. This one focuses on Louisiana and was used for grade 9. It could be used for lower or higher grades based on the intensity of the product expectations.
This file includes the assignment (a basic rubric and choice board) and a research guideline sheet. I put both on google classroom and let my kids use it there then share to turn in their work.
