Students will use this form while researching, investigating and learning more about their assigned state(s) and/or region. Items include, climate, tourist attractions, population, geography, important historical facts, manufacturing, and students personal opinion about the state after researching.
After the researching is complete I had my students use the form as a graphic organizer to begin drafting an informative writing piece and later give a presentation. Add some pictures/drawings and you've got yourself a bulletin board too! That's social studies, writing and speaking & listening (Talk about maximizing time and combining standards) You could even change the writing to an opinion piece and have students persuade the audience why this is the best state.
This year I might switch it up and have students design a brochure and have them give a presentation as a travel agent persuading someone to book a trip to their state!!!
